Hi,

Yes the cuts are made diagonally. They are cut at about a 30 degree angle downward (on the right side like this: \, and on the left side like this: /) with a 1-inch width. When you finish braiding, the danish may not appear to have large enough gaps in between the braided pieces, but in the oven the small gaps will turn into larger ones as the dough rises, making the innards show through as in the photo above.

For your cherry cream cheese braid, are your 5-in-long cuts diagonal like most braids? Noticed you say to allow an inch in between cuts. I want the innards to show as lovely as yours. Thanks.

just a suggestion, but considering that most of us gardeners are swamped with fresh produce (cukes, zucchini, tomatoes, etc), how about some ideas on how to use this surplus?
